3. Installing WordPress plugins using FTP
It is very rare using FTP to install wordpress on your site but some times your WordPress hosting provider may have file restrictions that could limit your ability to install a plugin from the admin area.
File Transfer Protocol is a standard network protocol used for the transfer of computer files between a client and server on a computer network. So you need to transfer file from your system into your WordPress it is advice able use FTP, not every time installing WordPress using upload plugins works so you use FTP as an alternative.
- Open the FTP client on your computer
- Connect to your website using the login credentials provided by your web host.
- Once connected, you need to go to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your website.
- Then upload the folder you extracted from the zip file to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your web server.
- After uploading, you will have to install on your dashboard
- You can use this to install new themes on your websites
